The most horrendous part of making movie series is when the director (or producer perhaps even the franchisor) decides to change everything. I've been watching James Bond together with my husband for a number of nights. I fell in love with Sean Connery and Roger Moore and yes, Pierce Brosnan. It's tremendously difficult to say which is the best of the three, but I like them all nonetheless. They have this air of "Bond-ness" -- a dignified MI6 agent who is misogynist in a way but still a great lover of women. These gentlemen had the charm, charisma and sense of humor .. unlike the Daniel Craig.
The latest 2 Bond films were a total disappointment. The removed all the Bond qualities- perversity and romance, Money Penny, and Cue. What even made it too generic was the inclusion of Judy Dench as M and her being surrounded by all other assistants and secretaries.
While it can be said that the special effects were great, these films cannot still be at par with the classics.
Should there be anymore Bond series, I hope it wouldn't be Craig or ladies who slur their own words.

Random Thoughts today
Just had an exhausting but nonetheless enjoyable week. I finally met all of my students for this school year. Let's see how the semester works for both me and them.
***
Anybody who thinks that Casino Royale is a great film must be crazy. It totally detached itself from the whole (yes, my husband and I have been seeing the whole series almost every night) Bond concept. The actor wasn't that good, a tremendous breakaway from Bond look. The leading lady slurred and ate much of the words. I just had to suck it up and sit still while watching this film.
It's a 3 out of 10 for me. The saving grace was the car he was provided by the agency.
