It is not surprising that teachers too slip a smile on their faces whenever instant holiday is declared. Why not? Teachers are like everybody else and thus need to have even the tiniest bit of break. A moment to free themselves from voluminous paper works and demands from school.

Few months ago, a tremendous hype was built over the movie Hunger Games. It was either the story was good or Liam Hemsworth spoke rather sweetly in Australian accent. I watched the movie last summer together with my niece. We didn't really like it too much. I can't speak for my niece but the whole plot was just simply shallow (at this point, I might be reminded by one of my students to suspend my disbelief). A nation with too much number of teenagers. The only recourse is to select one representative each year to be sent in a blood bath game. (rolls eyes)
Last night my hubby and I watched Battle Royale. The plot was exactly the same as with Hunger Games... or Hunger Games (both novel and movie) was copied from BR. Every bit of idea was BR in style. However, between BR and HG, the latter is by far better.
I'll give Hunger Games 1 out of 10 for an effort they made to replicate BR. On the other hand, BR is worthy of either 9 or 10 for an action pack, comical slurs of the moments and teenage romance rolled into one.
