And I meant that not in a wrong way. I'm quite passionate about the books that I read (be it historical or what have you). I love listening to music, most of which were lovingly introduced to me by my hubby. I also love playing video games.
I started with Xbox, then wii and now with ps3. Some of the games that I've the chance of playing were:
Xbox:
Assassin's Creed I and II
Fable
Sid Meier's Civilization
And sort of a card game (the name escapes my lips)
Nascar
Need for Speed
Wii:
Monopoly
Super Mario from first version sort of game to galaxy
Animal Crossing
Harvest Moon
Shadow
Ps3
Need for Speed
Skyrim
I have yet to try Fallout among others. I've no desire however to play scary games as I might just toss the controllers against the TV. (lol).
It's great (without much feeling of remorse) to have some days off from work and enjoy the time.

Random slurs of the moment
It is not surprising that teachers too slip a smile on their faces whenever instant holiday is declared. Why not? Teachers are like everybody else and thus need to have even the tiniest bit of break. A moment to free themselves from voluminous paper works and demands from school.

Few months ago, a tremendous hype was built over the movie Hunger Games. It was either the story was good or Liam Hemsworth spoke rather sweetly in Australian accent. I watched the movie last summer together with my niece. We didn't really like it too much. I can't speak for my niece but the whole plot was just simply shallow (at this point, I might be reminded by one of my students to suspend my disbelief). A nation with too much number of teenagers. The only recourse is to select one representative each year to be sent in a blood bath game. (rolls eyes)
Last night my hubby and I watched Battle Royale. The plot was exactly the same as with Hunger Games... or Hunger Games (both novel and movie) was copied from BR. Every bit of idea was BR in style. However, between BR and HG, the latter is by far better.
I'll give Hunger Games 1 out of 10 for an effort they made to replicate BR. On the other hand, BR is worthy of either 9 or 10 for an action pack, comical slurs of the moments and teenage romance rolled into one.

Unforgivable Bond
The most horrendous part of making movie series is when the director (or producer perhaps even the franchisor) decides to change everything. I've been watching James Bond together with my husband for a number of nights. I fell in love with Sean Connery and Roger Moore and yes, Pierce Brosnan. It's tremendously difficult to say which is the best of the three, but I like them all nonetheless. They have this air of "Bond-ness" -- a dignified MI6 agent who is misogynist in a way but still a great lover of women. These gentlemen had the charm, charisma and sense of humor .. unlike the Daniel Craig.
The latest 2 Bond films were a total disappointment. The removed all the Bond qualities- perversity and romance, Money Penny, and Cue. What even made it too generic was the inclusion of Judy Dench as M and her being surrounded by all other assistants and secretaries.
While it can be said that the special effects were great, these films cannot still be at par with the classics.
Should there be anymore Bond series, I hope it wouldn't be Craig or ladies who slur their own words.

Random Thoughts today
Just had an exhausting but nonetheless enjoyable week. I finally met all of my students for this school year. Let's see how the semester works for both me and them.
***
Anybody who thinks that Casino Royale is a great film must be crazy. It totally detached itself from the whole (yes, my husband and I have been seeing the whole series almost every night) Bond concept. The actor wasn't that good, a tremendous breakaway from Bond look. The leading lady slurred and ate much of the words. I just had to suck it up and sit still while watching this film.
It's a 3 out of 10 for me. The saving grace was the car he was provided by the agency.

Great Disappointment with Dr. Who
Don't get me wrong. I love Dr. Who. The first and especially the fourth. Tom Baker was a superb and very interesting Doctor throughout the series. The story itself is unique and intellectual in approach. His series took the audience literally in another world and dimension. For me and my husband, he is the best Doctor ever.
Unfortunately, BBC and new series of the show tried to outdo Tom Baker's. They literally changed the whole plot and idea. They have even made Doctor a womanizer and allowed this blond chick (Billie Piper) to stay through out the full 2 seasons. What is even worse is they travel not through different world but in time. Bleck/

Life of a teacher
... is like a play on stage
he takes the role of a protagonist
tinged with the feeling of a pessimist
... is like a boxer in a ring
always rushes things
never quits, sometimes sings
.... has full of surprises
has ups and downs..
endless. Infinite.
