It's more fun in the Philippines

The Department of Tourism has been the recipient of too many compliments and needless to say complaints from fellow Filipinos and netizens. The title itself begged from others a lot of memes (you can check them out from reddit webpage for pictures and comments). Why is it more fun in the Philippines?

I've asked my students the same questions and here are some of their replies:

I guess, It's more fun here in the Philippines because:
* Filipinos are Happy People :D. Marks of Happiness can be seen on their faces despite of the difficult situations they had.
* Filipinos are family-oriented people. The values and principles being implemented here are much greater than in any other country.

Its more fun here in the Philippines because:
* Filipinos despite of life vicissitudes is still happy and full of hope. You can always find Filipino smiling and praying.
* You can find here the delicious balut and the mouth-watering isaw and quail egg in every corner of the street.

It is more fun in the Philippines (batu-bato sa langit, ang tamaan fangit):
  • lean meat sold from the supermarket is not really lean like what they say. If the whole bit is covered with tattered white bits, then it must be fat.
  • it is only here where you can drink root beer (Sarsi) with egg yolk
  • taking showers during wake is forbidden
  • smoking jeepney commuters are selective signage readers
  • internet providers trick their customers
