Pop Corn Series: American Beauty and Harry Series

Every night's a movie date with my husband. Yes, every night. We never miss out a time where we can watch a film together. He gets to see more than I do during the day though but I think what he watches are the type that I wouldn't like. (While writing this though he vehemently denies it hehe).

Last night we saw American Beauty. Starring Khevin Spacey as a lousy husband with perverted mind and Annette Benning, a sex deprived bitch wife. They have a daughter together who was once sweet I guess you can say turned emo.

A family moves in next to their house. The guy was a former member of the marines while the mother was a patient of some sort from a hospital. Their son was a emo as Kevin's daughter can be except he is in the habit of taking videos of any kind (from things to people). I could not remember his name though but his pair of eyes are unforgettable. The father of that boy is shown as too strict and hates gays. The mother on the other hand is too meek and submissive. One time, the boy was hit by the father for prying the former's China wares in the curio. (gee whiz).

Little did that marine father know, his son is selling dope to Kevin Spacey. This went on for a couple of days until one time, Kevin waved at the boy to call him. The marine father became too suspicious. Eventually, he saw his son run an errand right at Kevin's house. Through the window panes, he saw his son giving a taboo to Kevin. That killed him.

To cut the long story short, the marine father killed Kevin. Now I am not telling the other aspects of the film (it has been a long day for me). I liked the movie nonetheless, not because of the perverted ideas that went in it but because it was unusual. You would have to see the film yourself to know what I am saying.

*****

Harry Potter, the boy I never wanted.

A gazzillion of people around that world has come to love and yes hate him. I was a fan of his (but not so much mind you) when the film started out. I in fact read the first book when my brother decided to purchase from a book store.

Just a couple of weeks ago, my husband downloaded all of the series except the last installment. We watched the first 3 (or 4) for 3 consecutive nights and it was a big pain to endure. Very long, shallow and boring. Too many points missed out and scenes that could have just been compressed in a matter of few minutes. Draining is the right word.

Acting wise, most (including the major actors) were not at par with seasoned actors such as Snapes and Malfoy's father or Doris (not my colleague) who for a short period of time replaced Dumbledore at Hogwarts.

What else is there to say other than the whole series is too formulaic.

I am being too kind with my post but it's as good as any bad movie that can put anyone to sleep.
